I don’t know if it’s the nerd in me or what, but I found this hilarious!

Typography? What’s That?! Aesthetics? Who Cares?! Graphic Designers? Who Needs ‘Em?!

A long, long time ago, back in the early 1980s, before the scourge of desktop publishing made every secretary a “designer,” typography was integral to the aesthetic of graphic design. Then, to the horror of those who care about design, programmers became designers and graphic arts went to hell. And typography went down the tubes with it. *sigh*

For Grandma

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I have not truly cried in a very long time … until tonight.

My grandmother died on Sept. 22 almost nine years ago. On the night before she passed, she wanted to spend some time with me, but I didn’t realize it until it was too late. I sat by her side during her final moments; she saw me in uncontrollable tears and placed her cool hand on my cheek as if to say, “It’s okay.” I’ll never forget that feeling, the biggest regret of my life. But, it’s not too late for you — LOVE WHILE YOU STILL CAN.

[I stumbled upon this video by chance. The artist is named Passion. Check him out.]

Happy birthday to me … Happy birthday to me … Happy birthday dear MsB … Happy birthday to me!!!

That’s right, I’m 32 years old today! Wowzer, time flies!!! It feels like it was just yesterday that I threw a big 80s-themed bash for my 30th birthday. Two years later and I’m throwing down a big load of change on my own birthday gift. Actually, my husband met me halfway. Aww! This is what I’ve been waiting for all year long! I cannot wait for it to arrive in the mail by this Thursday; I’m going to have some rockin’ sessions with it next weekend! Ooh wee! And, just in time for another boudoir shoot, too! Wahoo! (Sorry, secret identity on that one!)

Friends that know me real well know that I don’t care for gifts. Okay, that was put kind of bluntly. I meant, I’d prefer your presence over your presents. Get it? So, I want to thank my girls for a fun lunch date yesterday! Yummy!!! Also, I’d like to thank my boys for helping me get this beautiful camera and, of course, for the song and dance!!! Oh, I am so in love with this already! I know, I know, it’s just electronics; I’m a geek, I guess? =)

But, my stuff isn’t here yet, this image was taken from www.dpreview.com which is identical to what I’ll be getting: Nikon D300 and 50mm f/1.4 lens … Isn’t it just S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G?!! *deep sigh*

Mr. D300:
You and me, we’re going to have some fun working together. You’ll get front row seats to showings that many people will not get the chance to see with their own eyes. Um, what cha think about the upcoming boudoir session? Ooh la la! We’ll be at some wonderful weddings this year, engagement and newlywed sessions, family sessions, maternity and newborn sessions, etc. And, you’ll be right there by my side when I go to Thailand later this year. Maybe we’ll get to travel more when I book destination weddings, too. Yay!

Here’s to a beautiful business relationship, my friend! Cheers!!!

I’m leaving on a midnight train to Georgia …

Actually, it’ll be 10:55 PM not midnight; it’ll be on an airplane not a train; and, it’ll be to Chicago and not Georgia. Yay, I’m going to Chicago!!! Anyway, I’ll be there from May 16-19; learning from a very successful photographer whom I’ve admired for awhile now. She gets to photograph adorable kids for Ford Models and Pottery Barn Kids! So, I’ll be unavailable until Monday. Have a great weekend, everyone!

UPDATE (05/19/08):
Yes, I’m back from Chicago! No, I didn’t get to see Oprah. *sigh* But, the loft that the workshop was held at is literally just a few blocks from Harpo Studios yet still I had no time to go check it out at all! But, maybe next time?!

Anyway, it was an awesome experience learning from Audrey Woulard. She’s such a lively person and answered every question I had for her. She rocks! And, she’s an SUV and Coca-Cola girl like me! Yay! Speaking of her SUV, she swore that she would kill me if I blogged about the “condition” of her car. *ahem* But, she’s a business woman and mother of four boys, so I’ll be nice to her. haha! Oh, the image of Adobo Grill was actually taken upside down as I was riding in the back of Audrey’s SUV. I had to take it for all my Filipino peeps. hehe!

Kids totally dig me, I can tell (below). BTW, if you look closely there is Audrey’s reflection off that round black chair. She might kill me for this angle of her, too! haha. (Yeah, that’s me in front of the second window taking the shot.) Oh, the photo of that big red bowl with the chopsticks is a trendy Pan-Asian restaurant called Big Bowl. The waiters all look like they came straight out of an Abercrombie & Fitch ad. I accidentally tipped my AC&F waiter by over $10; so, if you’re reading this, I hope that you’re enjoying your $16 tip!

(Yes, I realize the “Big Bowl” sign is out of focus, but it started to rain and I shot that as I walked across the street.)
